WE HAVE BEEN MADE AWARE OF A NEW COMMITTEE BEING PUT TOGETHER
AND ITS' TASK WILL BE TO EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY, WITH COPLAY COUNCIL APPROVAL,  OF UPGRADING AREAS OF THE COPLAY PARKWAY. THE COMMITTEE, WITH PERMISSION, WILL FORMULATE A PLAN OF WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAKE IT A FIRST CLASS FACILITY.  THE ONLY PRIOR IMPROVEMENT THAT WE CAN RECALL WAS THE ROOF OF THE PAVILION. THE SPECIFICS OF THE TENTATIVE PROJECT WILL BE MADE PUBLIC AT A FUTURE DATE.  THE PAVILION WAS BUILT THRU THE EFFORTS OF THE KOPLAY KEYSTONE KOPS,  LED BY THE DEUTSCH BROTHERS, AL RECKER, JOHN ZSIGOVITS AND OTHER MEMBERS AFTER THE COPLAY CENTENNIAL.

THE COMMITTEE IS COMPRIZED OF THE FOLLOWING INDIVIDUALS:
STEVE BURKER, GERRY DEUTSCH, DAN PAVELKO, LOU BODISH, AL RECKER, JOHN SCHREINER, STAN REINHARD, Jr.

AL RECKER AND STAN REINHARD, Jr. WERE TWO INDIVIDUALS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOUNDING OF THE COPLAY COMMUNITY
DAYS FESTIVAL MORE THAN 31 YEARS AGO.
IT CAME ABOUT WHEN   DR. MAHLON H. HELLERICH, WHO WAS INVOLVED WITH THE LEHIGH COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND THE COPLAY PORTLAND CEMENT KILNS MUSEUM,  WAS LOOKING FOR A WAY TO PROMOTE TOURISM IN THIS AREA.

COPLAY IS GOING THRU A RENAISSANCE PERIOD WITH QUALITY PEOPLE INVOLVED. AS USUAL, THEY ALL VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME AND EFFORTS TO MAKE OUR COMMUNITY OF COPLAY THE CLOSEST THING TO UTOPIA (IN MY OPINION).  WHO WOULD DARE CHALLENGE ME ON THAT STATEMENT?  WE WISH THEM ALL WELL IN THEIR PROJECT AND ONLY WISH WE WERE PHYSICALLY ABLE TO HAVE A HANDS ON ABILITY TO OFFER.  WE WISH THEM SUCCESS IN THEIR ENDEAVOR.

GOD BLESS,
FRANK AND ANN D.
